The food here is excellent. I had the Lamb Vindaloo, and it was just perfect. Plus, the portions were massive... I've never seen so much rice. Very satisfying. It is expensive, but you get what you pay for.
The restaurant itself is beautiful, quiet and pleasant. Really another world when you step in from the plaza surroundings. Everything here is well done, and the owner/manager is pleasant to talk to as well. I will come again!

We used to go twice a month to Astha, but it is bit difficult with kids now to go frequently so we are ordering for takeout since then! Never disappointed. Rama is really great and one of the best renowned chef I’ve ever known in my life. He used to be a lead chef in one of the famous restaurant in my hometown in India during 90s but I didn’t know he was making that delicious food. Coincidentally, we met personally in Red Deer first time and I was so delighted to know that he was that great chef in my hometown.
I’ve not seen authentic East Indian restaurant like Astha in Calgary and only couple of East Indian restaurant in Edmonton you can compare with Astha.👍

Just had lunch here for the first time. The Butter Chicken bowl was great, however the service was the absolute worst. I was the only customer in the place at 12:15, so no excuse. The waitress did not seem to be concerned if my food was good, if I needed anything else or even the bill. I made an attempt to offer some feedback, but she was equally not interested and argued the whole time. At some point through this, she said "well this is a fine dining place". They couldn't be more off the mark. A fine dining place would not have a thick coating of dust on their fake plants and decorations and would have experienced, friendly and enthusiastic staff. Perhaps dinner offers a different atmosphere and better serving staff. I won't be testing that theory. You guys have good food, but need to rethink what happens in the front in a huge way and you might just have a good little lunch business. I am saying that from experience as a former (successful) restaurant owner. It also appears from the few reviews I read, other people seem to agree on the poor service and the unwelcoming front entrance, but all seem to be happy with the food. Maybe we have a point??
