We've been to this place a couple timese and have loved the food. The portions are substantial and the employees will provide great suggestions if you need any help. Only problem is that we always order more than we could ever possibly consume. The place could use a facelift, but if you are looking for good food, would highly recommend stopping here.

This is the second time we've tried here, the first time was much better it's ok a bit expensive for the quality. The deep fried minced pork dumplings had no filling, the steamed shrimp and scallop dumplings tasted weird. Most of the food was decent but not great. I had to ask for soy sauce and chop sticks. What I'll say is where I go in Calgary is half the price and far better quality. Staff is nice

We have eaten at the Red Star a few times, the food and service was very good. However, take out was a totally a different experience. I ordered online at 11am, got an order confirmation at 11:02am and a phone confirmation at 11:09am, pickup time was for 6pm, though everything was great. It was not, I arrived at 5:55pm there were at least 18 people waiting for pickups. Talking to some of them I found out my order was one of the first to be submitted that day. I waited 1.5 hours for my order, I was the last one to received my order! I ask the male server 4 times about my order, not once did he give me a up date, he seemed lost! My order was on the bottom of the pile, it should have been on the top. The food was mushy and not tasteful. I will never do take out again.

ordered for pick up at 550pm, told it would be 45 minutes. Showed up on time 635pm, with no order in site. Finally received food at 725 an hour and 35 minutes later while my senior mom was waiting at home for dinner. Not even an apology given but a can of coke they gave me. They are one of the higher priced places in town and the containers were not even full, plus their containers appear smaller than other places. Beef with mushrooms didnt have 2 full mushrooms in it. Mushrooms are not expensive. 1 table in there with a family, 1 with a couple and 1 with a single.

I ordered takeout yesterday… dinner for four and an order of deep fried shrimp. This was the first time I have ordered from Red star and I will not order again. The food was mediocre, the broccoli in the beef and broccoli was mushy, and we never did see the deep fried shrimp.
This was truly disappointing and I would not recommend Red Star.
